Bar-G-Ranch Steak Sauce and Stage Coach Sauces, Inc-
A Family Recipe since 1867
Our family steak sauce recipe has survived from our ancestors who immigrated from Germany to America, then from New York to South Carolina, Alabama, and on to Palatka, Florida. Past generations of our family wanted to market the cherished recipe, but during hard times, raising families took precedence. Today our sauce is on the market and is an example of a successful family tradition of a superior steak sauce.
Geck Family History.......
Grandpa Geck was given the special recipe before leaving Germany. Although he was a shoemaker by trade, his dream was to market the sauce that he had been making for family and friends. Before his dream could be fulfilled, he was called into the Civil War.
After the war years, in 1867, he and Grandma Martha were blessed with a son, Lewis H. Geck. Once again the recipe was passed down to 15- year old Lewis after the death of his father in 1882.
The dream continues.......
The Depression, World War II and hard times fell upon Bill, the youngest son of Lewis Geck. He married Geraldine in Alabama, and together they raised two daughters and eight sons.
The family later carried the age old recipe to South Carolina, where they started a produce business. Even then they were unable to market the sauce.
After a devastating freeze, the Gecks moved farther south in 1957, finally settling in Palatka, Florida, in the northern part of the state.
The Sauce Goes to Market.......
Now for all these years our family has made Bar-G Steak Sauce for family and friends cookouts and gatherings. But in January of 1991, Terry, the youngest of the Geck children and his wife LisaMarie, began the work which has led to the fulfillment of a dream of five generations of the Geck family.
Today, the Bar-G Sauce can be found throughout Florida, Georgia, Alabama, and some New England states, and we are in the process of going nationally. We’ve also been able to open our own manufacturing plant with the blessing of our entire family. We are proud to share our family dream with you. God bless.
